A patent has been issued for a wearing article with first and second surfaces opposed to each other when worn. The first and second surfaces are releasably connectable to each other by a mechanical fastener comprising a hook member and a loop member. The first surface is provided in a first predetermined region with a hook member and the second surface is located in a second predetermined region with the loop member. The first surface is elastically stretchable at least in one direction in the first predetermined region and in a vicinity thereof. The hook member comprises a plurality of hook assemblies, each comprising a relatively stiff base sheet and one or more hooks rising up from the base sheet. A plurality of hook assemblies is attached to the first surface in the first predetermined region so that the hook assemblies are spaced apart one from another in one direction. A plurality of hook assemblies is provided on a non-stretchable carrier sheet. The carrier sheet is attached to the first surface in the first predetermined region interposed between the first predetermined region and the plurality of hook assemblies. The carrier sheet can be torn off between each adjacent pair of hook assemblies as the carrier sheet and the first predetermined region are pulled in one direction, allowing the first predetermined region to be elastically stretchable.
